Eat Clean Snacks and Meals On-The-Go…
Plan for successful on-the-go food choices while on the road, and when it isn’t necessary to eat out, you can make clean choices with ease, helping you maintain dietary balance & fuel you for success in the midst of a mad schedule.
I truthfully look at road trips as “maintenance” periods. I don’t expect any major shifts in body composition or fitness gains on the road, my goal is to maintain any results I’ve achieved.
My top road snacks, and on-the-go meals include:
- Vega Vibrancy Bars: These were just recently reformulated and have become my staple on the road. I use them for breakfast on the go if I need to, in between meals, or as a plane snack. They have 40% RDI for fiber, 10g protein, are high in iron, and low in sugar. Naturally sweetened and flavoured, they have no dairy, gluten or soy.
- Trail mix: Raw nuts and seeds (unsalted) are packed with vitamins & minerals, healthy fats (in moderation), help stabilize blood sugar, and provide nutrient dense energy. My fav’s are brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, Savi Seeds, and I’ll often chuck in cacao nibs or dried goji berries for extra iron, calcium & magnesium.
- Nut butters and fruit: It’s easy enough to find an apple or a banana, whether in line at the coffe shop or at the convenience store, thankfully fresh fruit is not as hard to find as we would think. There are a few natural nut butters with minimal preservatives out there on the market, which squeeze easily onto a bite of fruit, helping extend the energy, provide greater satiety, and are quite “no-fuss” if you need to do it while sitting in an airport lounge, or backseat of a taxi. I like Justin’s.
- Vega One Shake: I know, I know, Vega, Vega, Vega, but truly, these products would all be on my list whether I worked with the team or not. Vega is a lifeline on the road, and if you don’t believe me, look below for how much Vega I pack when on the road! I have Vega One daily while at home anyways, so packing the snack packs (single serve pouches) and a shaker cup ensures I cover my bases and get all my nutrients in the midst of a mad schedule. I try and chuck a tbsp of chia seeds or coconut flakes into my shaker cup for some extra chew and satisfaction (although I’m lucky to be visiting natural grocers already while on the road and this is an easy item to pick up), but otherwise ice & water, and you’re good to go. 15g protein, EFA’s, fiber, 3 servings of greens, probiotics, antioxidants…you name it.

So there you have it! Wherever you busy schedule may take you, I hope some of these tips help you take it all on, as only a warrior would: Confidently, strong, and with your game face on! Now go get em!
